I want to write more on my blog. It's important to me. Why? Because maybe in my own little way, I can influence someone's thinking and thereby change the world. Grandiose?? Maybe. But there it is....
The obstacles that stand in my way are enormous. Yesterday my computer, the Microsoft Surface II, froze up! Seriously stopped DEAD in the middle of my sending an email. I got a message saying "You can exit or wait for it to respond." Okay. I waited. And waited, and waited some more. I ate dinner and came back. I went to bed and came back in the morning. But there it was, dead as a door nail! Not really dead exactly, but non-responsive. The monitor light wouldn't shut off even when I closed the lid. I could see the light from the screen of the laptop haunting me whenever I bent down to peek. When I opened the lid, the same message awaited: "...exit or wait."
I am typing this now on the latest Kindle Fire HD 10 with keyboard (at $249.99 a lot less expensive than a computer though with many of the same features) which, being an obsessive gadgeteer, I couldn't resist buying a few weeks ago. Thanks goodness! What foresight! This little electronic baby weights a ton, so it isn't for weaklings, but it's saving my bum right now, and I'm glad I bought it. Further, the bluetooth-connected keyboard is a real keyboard with keys that actually CLICK, so that I get the feeling that I am accomplishing something.
I won't bore you with all my other obstacles right now, health etc. Suffice it to say, I'm back changing the world, one post at a time.
P.S. Surface II solution: I pulled the plug, let the battery totally drain down (for a couple of days & nights), plugged it in, turned it back on, and it's back up and running. Patience Girl...!
The next pandemic is already here: fungi for which we have no cure and which is endemic to warmer climates. Read all about it in the June, 2021 issue of Scientific American and find out the role that dogs will play in keeping us safe!
